Even if your advertising budget is small, after doing a little research, you will find many free ways to promote a business and help your website be found online.
1 – Talk.
Don’t be shy! Tell people about your business and its story. Get enthusiastic about it, brag about it… People love and always remember a nice story.
2 – Optimize your website.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is very important for an online business. If you optimize your website, the chances to be found online by potential customers will increase a great deal.
Submit your website to search engines such as Google and Bing.
3 – Mobile-friendly Website.
If you have a business, you need a website. If you have a website, make sure that your website is mobile-friendly.
Google will penalize it if it is not mobile-ready by not showing it in its search results.
It also needs to load fast. Most people people will not wait more than 3 seconds for a website or app to load. Google also penalize slow sites and apps.

If you have a local business, be sure to list it on Google My Business to have a chance to get in Google’s Local 3-Pack. Bing Places and Yelp are also valuable.

Share your thoughts and expertise with others. Write about your industry, what you know and are passionate about. Write informative content; people search for how-to articles, and Google loves them.

6 – Create a Blog.
Blogging is a great way to write on a specific topic (e.g. your business). Connect with people in the same industry as yours and share your ideas with your peers. (Remember to always include your keywords and key phrases).
7 – Social Media.
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest and others, are great places to promote your business.
People will share your content and create a buzz about it.
8- Send Newsletters.
Introduce yourself and your business to potential customers, on-line magazines, products review sites, etc…
If they like what you have to offer, they would probably be happy to write about it.
9 – Business Directories.
List your website on professional directories. Many of them will give you a free basic listing with your name, phone number, physical address and website’s url.
10 – Media.
Call your local newspapers, magazines, TV and radio shows. They are always interested in new businesses and interesting stories.
Post pertinent videos on YouTube. People spend a lot of time on YouTube looking for information and entertainment.
11 – Off-line Publicity.
Business cards, brochures, flyers, posters, stickers…If you have a computer and a printer, you can create all of these yourself. Hand them out to everyone who will take one!
